Collage Journal
So my plan is to do a collage every morning when I wake up -- before I really get involved in anything else and while my mind is still free from stress, obligations or madness. I did this one while having my first cup of coffee. OK, I cheated, I did make a cup of coffee before sitting down to the table for this one!

line studies
i have been doing these lines studies as a way of relaxing from doing my daily design work throughout the week. just part of the process for keeping things fresh and experimenting with design and creativity, i first sketch them out on paper as i do with everything and then put them in the computer and then silk screen them. *i just love silk screening* i pickup the idea after read a book about Wolfgang Weingart, a truly amazing swiss designer, Typography, is the title and definitely worth a read for those interested.

self portrait no. 3
for this self portrait i had tried a little experament with some prism filters i have, for my holga, and held them up infront of the digital. pretty neat effect. after this first one i spent an entire day shooting everything with these little filters some came out really cool. i have some more tricks to try out, we'll see if any make it into the self portrait files later on. enjoy.

Wall Art
So, I've been working on these little paintings to hang on my wall. I just wanted some color on them without spending a lot of money on some fancy-pants art. So, I bought these little canvases at the art store downtown and some paint that corresponded to the colors in my new living room. Here's one that I've done. I think I might hang 5 in a horizontal line above the sofa and I'm thinking they would all have the tree, but each one would be a different shape and form. Everything in my apartment is sort of modern and geometric, this would add a splash of organic shape. Or... that's the idea, anyway.

New exploration
Ok, every Tuesday will be sketch anything day ( I will work on a better title ). Sketch something, anything every Tuesday and post it up by the end of the day. It can be big or little, from the scene outside your window to the pencil laying on you desk, in any media you want but try to experiment with different styles. This is not a beauty contest so even if you have a super narly sketch it's ok, that can be the "style" you're going after. The idea is to get into the habit of making a sketch everyday, starting with Tuesday, to help build your sketching skill and creative thinking.
Have fun with it and don't think about it. Just look at something close by and make a sketch of it.

Word :: FROZEN
Alright, for this weeks exploration we are going to do much the same as Speak Up's word it. You can use anything to express the topic, the only constraints are that you design within a 4x4 inch square. Keep your original files because at some point when we have a considerable amount we will make a book out of them.
Also, we should probably think about constraining the size of the self portraits for future use in print as well. Any suggestions?

Let the projects begin!
OK, my partner in crime -- here it is -- this is a place for us to challenge each other with design projects. I've been thinking a lot about what our first project should be! And I thought it would be something simple. My idea is to do a self portrait, focusing particularly on who you are today -- the things you're going through right now. But you can't show your face!! You can use any medium you want, no guidelines on that. If you want to use type you can, but if you don't want to you don't have to. I know this is written poorly tonight. I'll have to go back and edit it tomorrow when I'm thinking more clearly.
Enjoy. Oh, and I guess we should have like a week to do each project. What do you think? A week?
